The installation of the wood panels in the wine cellar is well underway. As always, there are a few detail areas that we are working out in the field but the guys from Fondell Woodworks have been great to work with so everything is moving along nicely.
The level of coordination throughout the project has been extremely high (which is why we had 15 pages of 24×36 shop drawings on the mill-work alone. More on shop drawings in a later post.) but as the various elements start coming together, you will be able to see that all of this attention to detail was worth it.
There has been a great deal of attention paid to “lining things up” (that has been the theme of this project), as you can see in the above photos. Wood ceiling panels will line up with the glass wall panels. It is this attention to detail that sets this project apart.
Another area of detail that we have been focusing on is the direction and orientation of the wood veneer. Each panel in the ceiling has been “sequenced” which means that when all of the panels have been installed the wood grain in each piece of veneer, from one end of the room to the other, will line up.
